About the Author

For me our cottage outside of Stone Lake is 'beyond the tension zone', a place where I can swim in any weather except a thunder storm. I especially like to swim in a light rain and have swum every inch of the shoreline and around our islands on the lake. Just this morning while Dick & I were enjoying a cup of coffee, two deer leaped in front of our cottage window and an eagle swooped low over our Norway pine trees. The best part, however, is the family time we have enjoyed for thirty-five years. Our four daughters have as strong a "sense of place" here as we do and our nine grandchildren relish their time here. Dick and our sons-in-law "boot camp" for six grandsons continues to teach character values along with a knowledge of nature and a love for animals. Our firepit has always been a place for family stories and our roots are deep. The circle of the firepit reflects our strong family circle and each member, young and old, is fully aware of their importance and the love we give one another. The Northwoods has given us incredible family memories and I trust our cottage will remain within our family for generations.
