Chapter 1
HOWDY! Though I have many favorite stories (especially drinking lots of Leinies at Summerfest) but my favorite is when my Aunt & Uncle took my husband & I to the Leinenkugel Brewery in Chippewa Falls, WI and we "sampled" ourselves silly with all of our favorite Leinies! After that tour and sample fest, we brought home as many ases of Leinenkugel Light cases as we could fit in the truck (I think it came somewhere close to 20 or 25). We had to bring back alot since we couldn't get Leinie Light anywhere in Northwest Indiana. Well...........not until NORTHWOODS came to town! Boy are we happy. Now we can all go and drink as MUCH Leinie Lights as we want..........and believe me we do! THANKS for offering all of my favorite Leinenkugel Brews! Debbie Breclaw - St. John

My favorite memory up in the "northwoods" happened the week of June 5, 1988. My husband and I got married on June 4, 1988. We had our honeymoon in Hayward, Wisconsin on Moose Lake. A lot of things happened on that trip to make it very memorable, but one stands out specifically. It was up in the northwoods that I introduced my husband to the great taste of a Leinenkugel Light beer. He had never tasted Leinenkugels, and so while up at a bar in the Moose Lake area, he ordered his first Leinenkugel Light on draft for 50 cents!!!! He fell in love with the beer, and so every year we make a pilgrimage to the Chippewa Falls area to bring back some cases of Leinenkugel Light. Of course, now that we have a Northwoods right near our house (YEAH!!!) we can go have a Leinenkugel Light on draft any time we want. ----- Laura and Jim Jacewicz, Schererville, IN 46375

While vacationing Up North last year we spent a great deal of time looking for that "special gift" for my daughter and son-in-law. Their newly remodeled family room has a Northwoods theme. We found a wooden bench with bear carvings at both ends. Since it didn't fit in our truck, we had to bring this one-of-a kind gift home in our boat. Would you believe we saw the exact same bench sitting near the gift shop at your Schererville location! Helene G, Dyer

Hi,
In the "good old days" when August in Chicago ment sufferiing through 100
degree temperatures, it was always cooler "up North" in Wisconsin. And the
food never tasted so good at home in Illinois like the fresh milk and fresh
eggs we ate out there.
I fondly remember those great summer vactions! --------- Terrie Schultz

I have many fond memories of vacationing in Wisconsin. With the beautiful scenery, good food, and many lakes it is a wonderful place for families to travel and vacation. You might even try some cheese and sausage! Jeff Hill, Schererville, Indiana

When I was about eight or nine years old my family would vacation in
Northern Wisconsin at a small lake
called Spirit lake near Phillips. We would spend a week of fishing and
nature watching staying in cabins that were
rented. One particular time my older brother and I were out fishing in a
canoe when either his fishing pole knocked mine in or mine knocked his in
and one at a time we both followed it. I can tell you from expereience
it is very difficult to
get back into a canoe from the water. We ended up pulling the canoe back
to shore (by walking as the water was
not really that deep where we were). John Kuchler------ New Lenox , Illinois

I have many fond memories of family vacations in the Northwoods of WI.
When I was five years old, our family was vacationing at the Bliss Lodge in
Boulder Junction, WI. It was there that my dad caught a large muskie. It
was as big as I was. The story goes that my dad almost tipped the boat
over fighting to keep that fish on the line. What excitement at the lodge
that morning. My dad brought the muskie to a taxidermist, and it hung on
our Chicago home for over 25 years. My brother, who now lives in MN, has
the muskie hanging on his wall at home.

My fondest memory of being up north wisconsin was as a young child with visitation rights with my father he took me to hayward wis. This memory sticks in mind so vividly as to how much fun we had. We had a cabin right on lake cheteck (not sure of spelling). WE fished and spent quality time together and i can remember how beautiful the woods were. At age 50 it seems like yesterday being there.Northwoods gives me a de je vu of this memory!
I wanted to also let you know my whole family came today for Easter at Northwoods in st. John indiana. It was a party of 15 and we had great food and fun. Its been quite a long time since the whole family got together like this. Northwoods is one the best places i frequent. The ambiance is out of this world, with delicious food.
