Midnight on the dock... One night while on vacation I decided to go for a walk around midnight. It was pitch black outside so I grabbed my flashlight and headed to the dock. It was a very clear, quiet night and I sat down at the very end of the pier and turned the flashlight off thinking I'd just sit in the dark. To my surprise before me was one of the most beautiful sights I'd ever seen: all of the big, bright stars in the black sky were reflecting on the black water. You couldn't see anything else not even the horizon line, not the trees. The water was perfectly calm. So, it was like the stars were everywhere, up in the sky and down below (as reflections in the water) and blackness. Sitting on the peer that night, looking over the lake it was like sitting in the middle of outer space (except of course, for the sound of frogs chirping...). Chicago
