Does anyone remember the Red Arrow Gift Shop "Dancing Dolls?" My family and I spent a week up in the Hayward area every year since I could remember. My dad worked alot -- he always did his best for us and was a wonderful man, so we were always happy and grateful to have the whole family together for that week. Being a 'daddy's girl' it was especially important to me. One of my earliest memories of Hayward was being about 3 years old, standing in front of the "Red Arrow" gift shop (on Main Street), holding my dad's hand, watching the 'dancing dolls' in the window. They were just 2 dolls attached at the hands that were pulled up and down by a string, making them 'dance.' Throughout the years, even when I was up there without my dad, all I had to do was see the dancing dolls and I was transported back in time, to when I was three and things were simpler and I was completely happy--at least for that moment in time. Now that I'm older, with my own family, I don't get up to Hayward as much as I'd like to--- and the last time I was there, I didn't see the Red Arrow gift shop or the 'dancing dolls.' But I will always remember ... Dawn, originally from Chicago |
