THE LURE

I would love to stray, so far away--
From the busy haunts of men,
That the tracks I made, From view might fade,
Lest they lead me back again.

I would make my home, where red men roam;
In the outdoors, wild and free.
I would hunt and fish, and hope and wish--
That others might follow me.

The tired and worn, and labor-torn,
Men craving to break away--
From worry and strain, and rest the brain--
That longs for a bit of play.

I would crave no more, than life outdoor,
To bring back my song and smile.
I'd await "the call," which comes to all
And call it "A life worth while."
