GIMME

Give me a tent, a birch canoe,
A grove of pine, a chum or two,
A quiet lake that's hidden back
Miles and miles from the beaten track.

A takedown stove, a shakedown bed,
Bacon, coffee, and home-made bread,
Fishing tackle, some good cigars,
A radio, tuned in on Mars.

Leave us alone all summer long,
Then ring the bell and pound the gong,
We'll be ready for work, by then,
Tanned and rested, and real he men.
