A Message from Annette Smith, Owner of Smith Realty
Since 1946 we have been selling special places to make special memories. From outdoor thrones to spas, Lake Superior to the Big Chip, The Brule River to a golden pond, Convenience stores to resorts, 5 acres to a hunting preserve -- we've sold them all! Let us help you become a part of the great northwoods we call home. Available weekends and evenings. Thinking of selling? We do make house calls. The Smith Realty office is now located on the Namekagon River
just outside of Hayward. From my desk I can view all sorts of
wildlife and activities: from deer to eagles and in the spring,
the welcome sight of kayaks. Summer brings the pontoons and tubers;
Fall, the fly fisherman; Winter the snow walkers and snomobilers.

Memories of Hayward
Celebrity Encounters at the office contd... My grandfather (also in real estate) did a lot of business with Chicago cops at the Old Moccasin Lodge on Lac Courte Oreilles. We got to meet a lot of characters that turned into good friends. My dad was a guide when his father had a resort on Sand Lake, so naturally, fishing, hunting and the outdoors was a special part of our lives. I remember my trapping career...it lasted 2 weeks! When we had a branch office in Barnes it was was affectionately known as "The Palace of Truth" and my Uncle Stan Barnes served his special 'bladder acid' every morning. Of course, everyone was required to wear boots because the bull@#$% was known to get pretty deep at times! Smith Realty, Barnes, WI Inside 'The Palace of Truth'
My dad was in the service in WW11 some how he had contact with General Pattons family.They owned a vast holding of property West of Hwy 27 North where the old copper mines are.They had planned to develop the property but when Patton got killed in the war they dropped the project. |
