RECIPE FOR SURVIVING A
NORTH WISCONSIN WINTER
From Birth to Toddler:
Take long winter naps
And snuggle in bunting
And warm mittens and caps
From Toddler to Teen:
Bundle up and play in the snow.
Make snow angels and snow balls
And make snowmen grow.
Learn how to skate and play hockey and ski
And do the Barnie and the big Birkie
From Teen to 40 :
Get chains for your car, or a 4-wheel drive
And prove to the world that you can survive.
Rev up the snowmobile so it will run
And hit the trails and have some fun.
Keep skiing and skating and playing outside
And find a toboggan and go for a slide.
Get out the shovel and insulated clothes
Then on week- ends watch football, relax and doze.
From 40 to 60 :
Load the trunk with shovel and sand
And extra clothes to have on hand
In case you get stuck in a far off drift
And no one comes by to give you a lift.
Get out on the ice with your tip-ups and bait
And with thermos in hand for that” big one” wait.
From 60 to 80 :
If you’re fit as a fiddle keep doing what you did
But keep in mind you’re no longer a kid.
You may have to go from shovel to blower
And from skates and skis to something slower.
On the days that it’s slippery or way too cold
You may have to admit that you’re getting old
And opt for a good book or a game of bridge
But watch the number of trips to the fridge!
Over 80 :
Take long winter naps
And snuggle in bunting
And warm mittens and caps
